Gray, Gray & Gray, a business consulting and accounting firm serving the heating oil and propane industry, has launched its 34th annual Energy & Propane Industry Survey. Deadline for submission is June 17, and results are expected to be released in September.

The survey collects the latest information on operational, management and financial issues from heating oil and propane marketers, creating widely accepted benchmarking statistics for the industry. The firm is partnering on the survey with energy service firm Angus Energy to provide statistics and data to supplement survey responses. The Propane Education & Research Council is also assisting to help maximize benchmarking abilities to help companies in planning for the future.

“The data we collect in our annual Energy & Propane Survey is used to establish benchmarks for key performance indicators across the industry,” says Marty Kirshner, CPA, MSA, a Gray, Gray & Gray partner leading the firm’s Energy Practice Group. “The statistics come directly from the marketers who are dealing with the day-to-day challenges of running and growing a heating oil and/or propane business.”

Gray, Gray & Gray is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. The firm was founded in 1945 in Boston by brothers Robert, Milton and Mervin Gray. After 54 years in downtown Boston, the firm relocated its offices to Westwood, Massachusetts.

Since its creation, the company has expanded its services to meet the evolving needs of its clients by adding three additional sectors. These include Gray Private Wealth, Gray Strategic Partners and FuelExchange.

“From a three-person post-war start up, we have grown steadily and deliberately over the years with the intention of maintaining our identity as an independently operated, entrepreneurial firm,” says James DeLeo, MBA, CPA/MST, a 35-year veteran of Gray, Gray & Gray who serves as the firm’s leading partner. “Whether it was through organic growth by adding new clients or expanding with our existing clients, our path has always been forward and upward. Throughout our history we have been fortunate to have team members of exceptional skill and dedication; and clients who placed their trust and confidence in our firm.”
