At the end of 2024, Alliance AutoGas (AAG) reached over 2,000 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-certified vehicle platforms qualified to run on autogas.

The certifications were for the 2024 3.0-liter EcoBoost, 2024 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the 2024 3.5-liter EcoBoost.

The 2024 3.0-liter EcoBoost is found in the Ford Explorer, Police Interceptor SUV and Lincoln Aviator, the 2024 3.5-liter EcoBoost in the Ford Transit and the 2024 6.6-liter L8T is found in the Silverado, Sierra, Express and Savanna models.

Adding the EcoBoost options to the Alliance AutoGas Engineered System portfolio further expands the engine offerings provided by AAG and its partners nationwide.

“It’s exciting to have such a large number and wide variety of engine and vehicle platforms to operate on autogas,” Stephen Holland, vice president of engineering with AAG, says. “AAG has the largest library of EPA approvals, and we are proud to contribute to the shifting landscape of the automotive industry.”

According to the company, EPA certification requires comprehensive and vigorous testing procedures, all predetermined to ensure that it meets the standards set by the EPA. Before receiving official certification, Alliance AutoGas Engineered Systems undergo a series of stringent tests, including rolling road dynamometer emissions testing and engine dynamometer cell testing. These evaluations are designed to measure the performance and emissions of autogas systems, ensuring that they adhere to all environmental and safety regulations.

“Our commitment to innovation and quality drives us to continuously improve and expand our offerings. Each year, our dedicated team of engineers works tirelessly to develop and test bi-fuel systems tailored to new vehicle platforms,” Holland says. “This ongoing research and development allows us to meet the evolving needs of fleets across the nation, offering them environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions for their vehicle fleets. With each new certification, we aim to provide efficient, reliable and sustainable options that support the future of fleet management and contribute to a cleaner environment.”

According to Holland, the AAG team will focus increasingly on autogas and electric vehicle hybridization to serve fleets in the transportation industry this year. The booth at the NPGA Southeastern & International Propane Expo will feature the Ford Explorer ST 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost equipped with an Alliance AutoGas engineered, EPA-certified bi-fuel system. It also features a horsepower of 400 horsepower at 5,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a torque of 415 pounds-per-foot at 3,500 rpm.

Additional features include:

  • Rotiform RSE wheels
  • Toyo Open Country A/T tires
  • Thule wingbar
  • Racktec Tanto basket
  • A Ford 7.3-liter V8 “Godzilla” engine
  • 3,900-4,500 rpms
